Phil's Chicken House
About This Spot
Stepping into Phil's Chicken House feels like crossing into a familiar corner of home, where the pace is unhurried and the air hums with conversation and the clinking of plates. This is a place where generations gather, drawn not just by the scent of roasting chicken and fresh-baked cornbread, but by a comforting continuity that has quietly endured over the years. The interior welcomes quietly worn wooden tables and a friendly, sincere crew, setting a tone that’s warm without trying too hard.
Here, the experience is less about formality and more about the timeless pleasure of a well-crafted meal that hits those nostalgic notes. Each plate arrives generous and bright with simple, soulful sides — creamy mac and cheese, tangy coleslaw, or tender baked beans — that never overwhelm but instead support the star of the show: the slow-roasted chicken, tender and seasoned to invite lingering bites. The friendly rhythm of service and the plate-sized portions gently encourage lingering conversations, whether you’re revisiting childhood memories or discovering Phil’s for the first time.
The dessert bar, too, is an unspoken ritual for many visitors, a place to find that last sweet smile of the day — from pumpkin cake to rich chocolate creme pie, their homemade quality complements the down-to-earth mood perfectly. What truly holds this place steady through decades is the subtle stewardship of tradition, with family members maintaining the original warmth and flavor, making every visit feel less like a meal out and more like coming home.

Great rotisserie chicken - tender, moist and well seasoned. Side was alright.

Fall-off-the-bone chicken and ribs. The potato salad is very tasty and the white cheddar Mac & Cheese is full of flavor. The friendly staff, ample portions and moderate pricing are all appreciated. If you can’t finish, take the pie to go.

Grew up on Phil’s Chicken back in the day and moved out of area 35 years ago. Happened by during a visit this week and what a nostalgic experience. First, the chicken was the same as I remember, moist and tasty. Sides were delicious and what was particularly interesting is the son and grandson of the founder”which I knew as a child” were still operating this. One other note is that the place was very clean even though the decor was dated it was spotless in there!

You know what you will get every time! That taste of home! Approx $15 per person and a savory meal! 1/2 chicken marinated and cooked to perfection with two sides and biscuit or roll! Support small business and local!

I love Phils, have gone there since I was a kid with my father. There is just something about the chicken there. Delicious desserts, the buffet is fabulous. I live in NJ now but just went back for a visit, had to stop here. Never disappointed, still consistent after all these years. Don't ever change.

Im a brother so trust me when I say I know my chicken. These folks got it down damn good. Rotisserie = banging. Chicken wings= banging. Desserts = banging. Kindness of staff = banging. Definitely go and enjoy some excellent Chicken and food. Far superior to the nasty mess you would get at KFC.
